Grethé Muller Grethé Muller

Grethé Muller lectures in culinary studies practical and theory. She obtained her B Tech in Hospitality Management and Post School Education degree at the Central University of Technology and has completed a web-based Masters Degree in Problem Based Learning at Aalborg University, Denmark. She is also a co-writer for a Consumer Studies text book.

Dr Zorada Hattingh Dr Zorada Hattingh

Zorada Hattingh obtained a B Home Economics degree from the University of Stellenbosch. She also has a National Higher Diploma in Food and Nutrition, an M Tech in the same discipline, as well as a PhD in Nutrition.   She is a senior lecturer and lectures in Culinary Studies & Nutrition and Research Methodology.  She also acts as supervisor and co-supervisor for post-graduate students.  She has published several articles in accredited scientific journals and has also peer-reviewed articles in her field of specialisation.

Marius Burger Marius Burger

Marius Burger is a lecturer in food and beverage studies and restaurant manager of One on Park Restaurant.  He obtained his B Tech degree in hospitality management at CUT Free State and has industry experience in all departments.  His fields of expertise are food and beverage management, conferencing, banqueting and events.

Jacques Ras Jacques Ras

Jacques Ras specialises in Hospitality Management and Service Excellence.  He is a CUT Free State graduate and has a wide experience in foodservice operations and training in the hospitality industry, and he is currently busy with a MA in Higher Education.

Renée Minnaar Renée Minnaar

Renée Minnaar is a lecturer, specializing in Hospitality Accommodation Management. She obtained her N Dip and B Tech degree Cum Laude and was awarded the best first and second year Hospitality Management student in 2000 and 2001. She was a lecturer’s assistant at this School before she became a lecturer at Stenden University in Port Alfred for two and a half years, coordinating second year hospitality management students and third year lodge management students, before returning to CUT in 2007. Reneé obtained her M Tech degree in Tourism and Hospitality Management at CUT in 2012.

Dalene Crowther Dalene Crowther

Dalene Crowther graduated from the CUT, Free State with a B Tech degree in Food Service Management (cum laude) as well as a B Tech degree in Post School Education. After lecturing at the School for Tourism, Hospitality and Sport for three years, she filled the position of Director: Training and Learner Affairs at the South African College for Tourism for one year. She obtained a Masters degree in Higher Education Studies (cum laude) in June 2009 and was invited to be a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. She specialises in Financial Management for the Hospitality Industry.  She is the co-writer of the book:  A Practical Guide to Guesthouse Management.  She is currently enrolled for a D Tech in Business Administration.

Janice Mentor Janice Solomons

Janice Solomons obtained BTech in Hospitality management in 2007.  She worked as a food and beverage lecturer at the South African College for Tourism in Graaff -Reinet.  She obtained a certificate with Honors from the American Hospitality Academy while completing an internship program in the United States of America.   She worked as the Head Chef of Protea Hotels Willow Lake in Bloemfontein and has done an Intermediate cookery course at The Ashburton Chefs Academy in England. She is a lecturer in Culinary Studies 2 & 3.

Thuso Phokoje Thuso Phokoje

Thuso Phokoje is a Technical Assistant (Purchaser) at the Hotel School. She obtained her National Diploma in Food And Consumer Sciences at the Cape Technikon.  She worked at the University of Stellenbosch as an assistant catering manager for a company called Kagiso Khulani Foodservice Supervision.

Judith Mavuso Judith Mavuso

Judith is a junior lecturer in Food and Beverage Studies at the Hotel School. She obtained her B Tech degree in Food Service Management at the Central University of Technology. She worked as a food and beverage controller and a NOSA Rep at Naval Hill Lodge.  She is currently registered for the MA Higher Education.

Leanne Posthumus Leanne Posthumus

Leanne is a Senior Administrative Assistant at the Hotel School and provides academic support to lectures and students.  She has 24 years’ experience in the secretarial field working at large corporate companies in Bloemfontein.   Leanne also has 7 years’ experience in community services and is a change agent in the battle against the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  She embraces ‘ubuntu’ and is passionate about student wellness to lessen individual impact, i.e. social factors affecting the academic performance of students.

Tamsin van Aswegen Tamsin van Aswegen

Tamsin van Aswegen obtained her N Dip Hospitality Management Cum Laude in 2009 and her B Tech Hospitality Management Cum Laude in 2010. She received the prize for the top student in all four of her studying years. She has worked in five star establishments like the Cape Grace in Cape Town and the Saxon Boutique Hotel and Spa in Johannesburg. She has also worked in the guest house and catering industry in Bloemfontein.
